Fifth Grade Field Trip

by Jennifer Trenhaile

October 11, 2008

The 5th grade students spent a fun filled day on October 9th starting with a concert for young audiences by the Sioux City Symphony held at the Orpheum Theatre.  Students from many schools came to listen to the Symphony present an informational performance on Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.  From there they took a historical tour of Palmer’s Olde Tyme Candy Company where they all received a free “Bing” candy bar and had a little time to shop for sweets.  A picnic lunch was eaten at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center and then students were led on a hike through the park on one of the many nature trails that are available to the public to use for free. A special thanks to the parent volunteers of Kevin Belt, Stephanie Charron, and Angie Shanks
