I LOVE first grade! Each year gets better and better. This is my thirty-eighth year teaching for Emerson-Hubbard. Over half my thirty-eight years has been spent in first grade. But I have also taught a combination first and second grade, fifth grade, and fifth and sixth grade language arts and science class as well as substituting for both high school and elementary classrooms.
I graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. I earned both my bachelor and master degrees from Wayne State College. I have an endorsement in special learning disabilities. I am trained as a HighScope teacher. I never have stopped learning! I take many workshops every year! One of my favorites was a summer workshop offered at Sioux Falls University and given by Joy Cowley of New Zealand. I guess one could say I am a perpetual student.
I live in the village of Emerson with my husband, Larry. He, too, is an educator. Both our daughters attended and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard. They each have families of their own. We have four grandchildren.
I enjoy teaching, dancing, reading, my grandchildren, friends and traveling.
