Mrs. Milliken - Biography

By Ann Milliken

November 24, 2007

I grew up in the small town (even smaller than Emerson!) of McCool Junction, NE.  I graduated from high school in 1992 from a class of a mere 14 students.  The fall after high school graduation, I began coursework at Wayne State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English Literature and a minor in Social Science in 1997.   In June of 1998, I became an employee at Wayne State College and started taking classes toward a teaching endorsement.  I completed my endorsement in December 2005 and substitute taught during the spring of 2006.  I interviewed for the teaching position at Emerson-Hubbard on my birthday (March 31) and was offered the position the next day.  I began teaching at Emerson-Hubbard during the fall of 2006.

It will come as no surprise that reading is my favorite hobby, but I also enjoy walking, playing tennis and archiving all the funny things my daughter says as she grows.

I was married in February of 2000 to Jim Milliken and in July of 2002 we added Paige to our family. We make our home in Wayne. Jim sold the White Dog Pub in October 2005 and is currently operating lawn and snow removal services as well as Outfitter’s services in Red Cloud, NE.

Paige will start kindergarten in the fall of 2008.  Her hobbies include drawing and doing gymnastics.
