Monday night was parents night for the girls basketball team. The Lady Pirates had a very close game with Homer. The Emerson-Hubbard Lady Pirates record is 4-11, while the Homer's Lady Knights is 10-2. Although the records are different, the Lady Pirates were able to stick with them. Assistant coach Mrs. Lilly says, "It was a good game, and it was close the whole game, all but about two minutes."
One of the many audience members, Noah Sebade commented, "The girls played really hard as a team. They also cheered each other on a lot, it kept me at the edge of my seat throughout the entire game!" The Lady Pirates worked hard for the 9 steals they got and played pretty decent defense. Of 41 they made 17 from the 2-point range. Of 5 attempted they made 1 from the three-point line. At the end of the fourth, the Lady Knights ended up taking the game. The final score was 49 to 42. The next game for the Lady Pirates is Jan. 21st in Pender. Try to make it out and cheer them on!
