Lady Pirates Suffer Loss at Home Game

by Jessina Fassler

January 22, 2008

Last night the Lady Pirates suffered a loss to the Pender Dragons at home.  The Pirates were not expecting this one to slip between their fingers. Assistant coach Mrs. Lilly stated, "We shouldn't have lost the game, it was bad. But it's hard to beat one team three times in a row."  I would also have to put my opinion in and say that it doesn't help that we haven't had a full day of school yet, due to the heaps of snow we received. The Lady Pirates didn't lose by much.  The final score of the intense game was 28 to 26.  From the field, Emerson made 8 of the 35 attempted shots.  While Pender got away with 12 of their 31.  One three pointer was made during the whole game by the Lady Pirates.  The Lady Pirates did a better job with their offensive rebounds with a total of 10, while the Lady Dragons got 8.  The Lady Pirates were also able to get away with 10 steals throughout the game.  With some more practice time coming up, the Ladies should improve on their game.  I also heard that the split the pot got up to $150, so come watch the games and try to win some money!
