The Emerson- Hubbard Lady Pirates traveled to Winnebago on Tuesday the 6th. They knew it wouldn't be an easy game but the Varsity came out with a win.
The night started off with the JV. They played hard but they just couldn't pull it off in the end.
Katlyn Byroad said " we played hard, but it just didn't turn out the way we wanted it to".
After the JV was done the Varsity pulled it together and played as a team. The Lady Pirates Varsity came out going hard in the first set and they ended the first set with a score of 25-10. In the first set Jenna Roeber was 6 for 7 in serving with 3 ace serves and Alexa Heeney was 9 for 9 with 2 aces.
They also came out strong for the second set. Alexa Heeney had 2 kills as well as Marisa Blanke. Caitlin Casey and Brittni Bormann were top diggers in the second set. They ended this set with a score of 25 and 14.
During the third set Alexa Heeney had 4 kills and Brittni Bormann had 2. Serving wise ~ Alexa also had 4 ace serves and Brittany Pallas had 2. The final score of this set was 25-18.
Over all the Lady Pirates did good and worked hard. The top servers were Alexa Heeney and Jenna Roeber. The top passers were Brittni Bormann and Marisa Blanke. The top diggers were Brittni Bormann and Brittany Pallas and top hitters were Caitlin Casey, Alexa Heeney and Marisa Blanke. And I can't leave out the setter, Jenna Roeber ended up with 45 good sets and 13 assists. Between Casey, Heeney, Blanke, and Bormann the Lady Pirates ended up with 3 ace blocks of the night.
Thursday the 8th, the Lady Pirates will take on the Homer Knights on their home court. This will be a B and A game. Hopefully they can come out with another win. Good luck Lady Pirates!
