Emerson-Hubbard saw their season come to a close this Wednesday with a 24-20 loss at home to Exeter-Milligan in the 2nd round of the State Playoffs.
Emerson took a 14-8 lead into the locker rooms at half time, lead by the rushing of senior tailback Scott Servine, but in the 2nd half, Exeter adjusted and outscored the Pirates 16-6 to take home the win.
"It's a hard way to go out," said head coach James Northwick. "But we have nothing to regret. We got better from the start of the season to the end and that's all you can ask for."
For the Pirates, Servine was the leading rusher on the night with 169 yards. He broke the thousand yard mark for the season, ending up with 1064.
Passing on the night, Max Renning was 2-4 for 23 yards in the first half before being injured. Sophomore Adam Dreiling took over in the 2nd, going 2-6 for 37 yards doing a very good job of managing the game when he was called on.
Justin Hogan lead in tackles for the night with 15. Austin Gutzmann and Chase Miller both finished with 8 for the night.
The Pirates season came to a close, and along with it came the end of 10 seniors' careers at Emerson-Hubbard. They ended with 2 consecutive playoff appearances, something no other class had done at E-H since 1990. The season ended with a 6-4 record.
