L&C Honor Band Held at WSC

LEWIS & CLARK HONOR BAND
The Lewis and Clark Honor band was held at Wayne State College on Wednesday, February 10th. It had been rescheduled due to weather. Students from all schools in the conference were represented in this honor band. Each student attending auditioned in front of one of the band directors first thing in the morning for chair placement. Students that were selected to sit 1st or 2nd chair in their section were awarded conference medals. Four students from E-H were awarded medals. Their award is listed beside their name below.
Representing Emerson-Hubbard in the 11/12 band with clinician Dr. Samuel Zitek were:
Taylor Washburn - Flute 1st chair medal
Tara Kleich - Clarinet
Michael McMahan - Tenor Saxophone 1st chair medal
Brianna Pasewalk - Tenor Saxophone 2nd chair medal
The 9/10 band was under the direction of former E-H Band Director, Brad Weber. Representing E-H in this band were:
Justine Sebade - Alto Sax 2nd chair medal
James Ferdig - Alto Sax
Lindsey Lueth - Trombone
A concert was held at 4:30 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre. A plaque awarded to Allen High school for having the most audience members in attendance.
USD HONOR BAND
Brianna Pasewalk, Michael McMahan, and Taelor Washburn were selected to participate in the USD Honor Band on Monday, January 25th. This honor band ended up being cancelled due to bad weather.
WSC HONOR BAND
Taelor Washburn and Michael McMahan participated in the WSC Honor Band on Saturday, January 30th. The bands presented a concert for the public at 4:30 p.m. The guest director for the Symphonic band was Kevin Massey from Sioux City North.
BUENA VISTA HONOR BAND
Taelor Washburn, Brianna Pasewalk, Michael McMahan and Jordyn Gentrup were selected to participate in this years BVU Honor band on February 27th. There is a high school band and a middle school band that will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. in Schaller Chapel on the BVU campus.
CLASS "D" HONOR BAND
Michael McMahan and Taelor Washburn were selected by taped audition to participated in this year's Class "D" All-State Band. Only students from Class "D" schools are eligible to participate in this group. Both Michael and Taelor were selected to participate in the Wind Ensemble, the top elite group for the day. There is also a Symphonic band and a Jazz band that will rehearse and perform at the concert as well. This year the event will be held on March 20th at the University of Nebraska Campus in Kearney, NE. Michele Bluford will be their guest conductor.
