Emerson-Hubbard avenged last season's district final loss Friday night with a 46-36 win over Omaha Nation in Macy.
Senior guard Derick Lux lead the Pirates on the night with 16 points, including 9 in the 4th quarter.
The Pirates came out fast, taking an 11-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, but let the Chiefs back in it behind the 3 point shooting of Neal Sheridan. The game would be tied at 18 going into the locker rooms at half time.
The difference in the game was the second half, which the Pirates won 28-18. Most of the late damage was done at the line. As a team, Emerson was 7/8 from the free throw stripe in the final quarter.
With the win, the Pitrates moved to 2-1 on the year. Next up for Emerson was a home game with Dodge on Tuesday night. They also play Ponca in Emerson on Friday night.
