The Emerson-Hubbard boys welcomed the Ponca Indians to town in a battle of two state ranked teams, with Ponca ranked 4th in class C2 and Emerson being ranked 4th in class D1.
The game was back and forth the whole way but Ponca held an 8 point lead with 2 minutes to play before Emerson came storming back to tie the game with 11 seconds left in the 4th quarter.
Ponca had possesion of the ball, but turned it over and senior guard Scott Servine was fouled with 1 second left giving him a chance to give the Pirates the lead. He hit both free throws and a last second prayer by Ponca was no good to give the Pirates a huge 44-42 win.
With the win, Emerson-Hubbard moved their record to 4-1 for the season.
