The Emerson-Hubbard Pirates played the Wakefield Trojans on December 29 in the semifinals of the Wayne State College Post Holiday Tournament. After having a tough defensive game against Laurel-Concord the night before, they had a real nice defensive day against Wakefield.
Austin Gutzmann led the offense in this game and played some really good defense. Max Renning helped the team out offensively and did a fine job on defense guarding Wakefield's leading scorer Chad Clay.
"I thought we played pretty good defence and held Chad Clay from scoring too many points," said AJ Bormann on the game.
Austin Gutzmann was the leading scorer in the game with 18 points. Max Renning scored 15 points, Scott Servine scored 8 points, AJ Bormann scored 6 points, and Derick Lux and Adam Drieling scored 2 points.
