E-H Lady P's vs Allen

by Caitlin Casey

January 27, 2010

The Lady Pirates took on the Allen Eagles the other night and came away with wins in both JV and varsity. JV played 2 quarters and won 19-7. Brittany Pallas scored the most points with 6 and Justine Sebade and Haley Koopman both had 5.

The varsity also came out with a win, 54-44, but had to make a big comeback to get there. In the first quarter Allen was 70% from the field goal range and the Lady Pirates were only 2 of 15. In the 2nd quarter the Pirates started hitting some shots and took advantage of the full court press to get some lay ups and came within 6 points before halftime. In the third quarter Allen tried to break away again but with a couple 3 pointers from Brittni Bormann and a nice jump shot from Marisa Blanke the Pirates came within 2. They took the lead but Allen fought back to tie the game at 35 and again at 38. The Lady Pirates took control from then on into the fourth quarter, switching up their defense and pulling away to end up winning 54-44.

Brittni Bormann was leading scorer for E-H with 17 points. Alexa Heeney tossed in 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for another double double. Caitlin Casey had 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots and Brittany Pallas had 7 rebounds. All together the Lady Pirates only turned the ball over 12 times, which helped them a lot when they were down by 13 at one point.

Their next game is this Saturday against Walthill at home for the first round of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament. Good luck ladies!!
