On Tuesday, February 2nd the Lady Pirates traveled to Hartington to play the second round game of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament against Osmond. The Score was close for the first half of the game. Osmond was having some trouble hitting some shots which helped us. The other main factor that helped us was playing hard defense through out the game and hitting our free throws.
The second half was a little more tough. Osmond started hitting some shots but we didn't let it get to us. We kept fighting and pulled it out in the end with a win over Osmond, 43-39, advancing us in the tournament.
"We played really good defense and made all but one free throw, which helped us a lot," says senior, Caitlin Casey.
We had some good things going for us, like free throws. Our free throw percentage ended up being 95%, as a team we shot 19 and made 18. Our Leading scorers were Alexa Heeney with 18 and Caitlin Casey with 10. Marisa Blanke led the team in steals by swiping 3 steals. Our leading rebounders where Caitlin Casey with 8 and Alexa Heeney with 10. Marisa Blanke was also leading in assists with 5 dishes into our posts.
The Lady Pirates will be playing Wynot in Winside on February 5th. Good Luck Ladies!!!
